Hyke
Funeral
Joe Hyke’s son Ben Age about 13 years, accidentally shot himself in the abdomen the latter part of last week. with a 22 rifle, from the effects of which he died Monday. He was hauling hay, and had placed the gun in the rear end of the load, and on drawing it out with the muzzle toward him the hammer collided with the bottom of the hayrack, and the gun went off. An operation was performed Sunday, and it was found that his bowels were perforated in eight places. This is another one of those sad affairs resulting from thoughtless acts. Ben was a bright, industrious boy, and deserved a better fate. The funeral occurred yesterday.

It seems Benny was probably shot on the 30 or 31 of October, then was operated on Sunday November 1 1903, and died Monday November 3 1903.
