KOCH. He only stayed long enough to build a frame house before returning east to

information on John ARNOLD, who resided in De Smet, but later lived and died and
buried in the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs. b. Sept. 18, 1835 in Owego,
Tioga County, NY. d. Nov. 13, 1901. According to his Civil War pension files, in
1892, his wife was dead, and he had two sons, William Douglas ARNOLD and
Frederick Roy ARNOLD. Strangly enough, He does not know the birthdates of them,
which leads me to believe he possibly abandoned them and possibly their surnames
were changed via adoption. Thank you

Am searching for information on Peter
(Per/Peder) GILBERSTON and his wife Siri/Sari/Sara and their descendents. Peter
and Siri lived in the DeSmet area and are buried at West Bethany Cemetary. I am
also searching for information on Mary GILBERTSON who was raised in the DeSmet
area, came back to area in approx 1935. At that time she was supposedly living
in the Denver, CO area. Would also appreciate any info on Burnett THORSON
(Thoreson/?) and his wife who settled in the DeSmet area for a time. They were
on their way to Montana. Their daughter, Inger Guriana, married
Thorvald/Thomas/Tom IVERSON and they lived between SE Minnesota and the DeSmet

My great great grandfather, Frank E. SLY,
lived with his wife Emma A. SLY, in Iroquois, South Dakota in the late 1800's.
He even had a last will prepared there in 1901. I am trying to trace the SLY
side of my family with much difficulty. I know the SLY's were indians, but not
what tribe. Frank and Emma had the following children: Lewis B. SLY, Frank J.
SLY (my great grandfather), Clara B (SLY) Maxwell, and Vernie R. SLY. They later
moved to Lane County, Oregon where my gg granfather and mother passed away. My

on BERNSTEIN and BECKER in Oldham. My grandfather, Fritz Bernstein, emigrated
from York, Nebraska. His father, August Wilhelm Bernstein emigrated from
somewhere in Prussia. My great grandfather was Frederick Becker who homesteaded
in Kingsbury County. My g-grandmother was Amelia Koehn or Kuehn. They are both
buried in St. Andrew cemetery in Oldham. There are a number of other Beckers
buried there as well. I'd like to know if they are all brothers, if and when
they came over from Germany together. Any information would be greatly

Born: 1874 in Schmolsin, Pommerania, Prussia Married: November 6, 1897 in
Schmolsin, Pommerania, Prussia to Emilie Wilhelmine Glaser Died: 1944 in
Arlington, SD At time of death lived in a house near the railroad tracks in
northeastern edge of Arlington. He had a sister Ernestine Henriette Eick, who
was married to the younger Carl August Albrecht and lived in DeSmet, SD, and
also another sister named Adeline Wilhelmine Eick. He had 4 children, but only
one survived into her twenties, and she (Emma) got married to a Frank (Franz)
Jacob, and moved to Wausau, Wisconsin. Of the other children, Anne (b.-27 Jan
1898) died in a housefire on January 27, 1919, Berthe (b.-June 12, 1899) also
died in a different housefire on May 11, 1916, and Herman Otto Eick (b.-November
16, 1912) died two days after his birth. My question is: Does anyone know the
specific date of his death, and which cemetery he is buried in.

Looking for a Nathan R.
GILES. He was born in Bristol Co., Mass and moved with his wife, Dorcas B.
Nichols to Goodhue County, Minnesota -- Zumbrota township. They had several
children and disappeared from Zumbrota after 1870 which was the last time I saw
them in the census, though one of his sons was working for his father's aunt's
brother, Hiram Bigelow, in Zumbrota in the 1880 Census for Zumbrota township. I
bought the 1890 Veterans schedule from Family Tree Maker and it shows a N.R.
Giles showing up in Baker township, Kingsbury Co., SD. Does anyone have any
information on that N.R. Giles so I can find out if it might be my Nathan R.

my grandfather Alfred
ALLISON was sent to live with his Uncle John and Aunt Jewel in Manchester, S.D.
when his parents died when he was 18 months old. I do not have his parents names
anywhere (they are not on his marriage or death certificates). He was born in
Missouri Bend, OR June 12 1898. He would have been sent to SD around
November-December 1899 or January- February 1900. I have no last name for John
& Jewel. It could be John ALLISON, or Jewel could have been the Allison with
a different married name. I have a photograph of them taken about 1908-1909,
when Alfred was about 20.

Betsey BOARDMAN, born
at West Milton, Vt., April 17th 1837. She moved to Elkader,Iowa and married
Charles W. GRANNIS August 24th, 1856. They had 5 children: Louis, being the,
oldest. Florence, the second, who died at the age of six years, Cyrus, Lettie
and Amy. The family moved to Iroquois, Kingsbury Co., S.D. in 1885. Betsey
(BOARDMAN) GRANNIS died 16 May 1893 in Iroquois and Charles GRANNIS died
sometime after that. Their son, Cyrus GRANNIS, died 28 December 1904 in Sioux
Falls, S.D. and is buried in Rochester, Minnesota next to his first wife who
died there while being treated by the Mayo Doctors. I'm looking for any info on
GRANNIS family, either ancestors or descendants. According to the 1909 business
directory for Iroquois there is a business called "Grannis House." According to
family members the Grannis Family owned many businesses in Irquois while living
there.

Randi BREKKE. Ole BJORDAHL immigrated from Norway in 1877, born there in 1856.
Records show that he immigrated to Davison County, South Dakota through a port
in New York. He may or may not have been traveling with a brother - possibly
named Andrew. Also in the Kingsbury County area, Oline BJORDAHL married Otis
SEVERSON. Otis's father was Bertinius and his mother Ella SEVERSON (b. 1863 in
Norway). I am looking for any information about Ella's heritage. I have much

Searching for
Carswells. I found my GGGrandfather George C Carswell and his family listed on a
Kingsbury Co. census 1900. Living in DeSmelt township. George, Minnie, Allan,
George, Clyde and Verna. I cant find them after this listing until 1920. They
were immigrants from Canada. Does anyone else have any connection to this family
or know of their whereabouts before or after 1900.

Looking for Languell kin
folks. My Great-Great Grandfather's name is John Languell he married Charity
Meyers in July llth, 1863. They had a total of 11 children this is what the
Family Bible showed. The children's name were Melvin, Betsy Ann, Thomas Jacob,
Mary Ellen, Willie Sherman, Laura Jane, John Wesley, Rena, Issac Cleveland
Charles Languell. These are all their Children so if you think you'll kin please

on the SS California. The ships manifest indicates she would be going to
Kingsbury County to visit or stay with a friend, Mrs.NORTON who lived in

Tracing FALTERS in Kingsbury Co. William b
1877 moved here after 1900. His son John died in 1959 buried in Redfield. Want
to trace more information on his father, William and wife Elizabeth. William's
father was Jacob FALTER b 1842 and wife Rosena. Was Jacob living with William
when he died? We are unable to find Jacob and family after the 1900 Census in

I am looking
for information on Florence HOUSE, in Bancroft. Florence is listed on the 1920
census as a clerk under Andrew and Myrtle Rockstad. I do not believe the
Rockstads to be Florence's parents, and I am not sure if she was born in South
Dakota, or if she was born somewhere else. Florence married Dewitt Pearce
UNDERWOOD (also on the 1920 census) sometime in 1921 or 1922. Florence gave
birth to Margaret Louise UNDERWOOD on 11 July 1923. Florence died later that
year, as a result of an injury from a fall. Dewitt was originally from Texas,
and subsequently moved to Kansas (1930 Syracuse, Kansas census). I have no other
information about Florence and would like to find out more about her - where she
came from, who her parents were, etc. Florence HOUSE is my maternal
great-grandmother.

STEVENS, John and

Christian: b. 1877 (Denmark) d. 1964 (CA), lived for many years in Iroquois --
newspaper records indicate he was a merchant in Iroquois. Married Anna THORSHEIM
(from Arlington) in 1910. She died in 1917. They had 2 children, Evelyn

Searching for Eliza
WILSON GARDNER born about 1844 in Belmont County, Ohio. She is the daughter of
William WILSON and Ruth WILKENSON Wilson. Eliza's father left Eliza and her four
siblings in Ohio after the death of their mother Ruth and moved to Illinois. He
left them with his parents Nichols WILSON and Sarah GLOVER. I found them in the
1850 US Census. Eliza married UNK GARDNER in Belmont County, Ohio and moved to
Esmond, South Dakota. I am told that her sister-in-law Maria ARY WILSON wife of
Allison WILSON used to visit her in South Dakota. Not much to go on but I'm
hoping there are some decendants out there somewhere who are researching this
line and can help me find Eliza. I have found all of William's children except
Eliza.
