Dear Father,

I suppose it will be quite a surprise to you when you get this. I was brought to the hospital this morning and they say I have the influenza. Don't feel very sick. The only thing that makes me sick is the quarantine was lifted today and here I am in this hospital, but I bet I'll get well soon.

I have a ward all to myself and a nice enclosed porch for sleeping. I have the best place in the hospital, so the boys say.

Well, don't let this bother you any as I think I'll be out in a few days.
