TODD posted by Anne Eberle on Tuesday, July 1, 1997

Is the origin of the name TODD County known? I have heard of two different persons for which it might be named. J. B. S. Todd, first represetnative for the territory to Congress and John Todd, a Missouri River steamboat captain. There could be other possibilities, also. Thanks a lot!

PEARSON posted by Cornelia Warner on Friday, January 9, 1998

looking for death record of John Young PEARSON, died 10 Nov 1911, Rosebud. I've looked at a death records book filmed by the LDS church, and there is no page in it for 1911. He isn't listed in the 1910 or 1912 sections either. Is there any other death record, or an obit, perhaps? his will was holographic, so it isn't in the courthouse. I have it.

CAMFIELD, CROSS posted by Cornelia Warner on Tuesday, January 13, 1998

I am looking for a copy of the autobiography of Lewis Emerson CAMFIELD titled "This One Thing I Do". In it he talks at great length about my great grandfather, Rev. James Franklin "Frank" CROSS, who was Congregational Missionary on Rosebud Reservation in Todd Co., S. Dakota. Any condition will do, as long as it is legible. Thanks.

BELVIN, BEVERLY, BIRCH posted by Pam Thoenen on Friday, April 10, 1998

My GGrandparents were residents of the Rosebud Reservation in Todd Co., S.Dakota at the time of my grandmother Arretta (Loretta) BELVIN (perhaps BEVERLY)'s birth. It is difficult to say exactly what that date was, as information differs. She is listed as 22 yrs. old on my mothers birth certificate dated 1934. GGrandfather Lenard BELVIN (BEVERLY) was said to be Sioux Indian, born on the Rosebud Reservation date unknown (around 1875-1880) in Todd Co. GGrandmother Rose (BIRCH) BELVIN was Cherokee Indian birthplace unknown. Some 7-8 yrs. after my Grandmother's birth the family moved to VA. My Grandmother was educated to the 2nd or 3rd grade on the Reservation. Can find no records of any of these people. Can anyone help?
